UPSC Recruitment 2010 in Defence Ministry
DEFENCE MINISTRY
1. Eighty-four Junior Works Managers (Mechanical) in Ordnance Factory Board, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Civilian in Defence Services. Out of eighty four posts, fourteen posts are reserved for SC candidates, three posts are reserved for ST candidates & fifty-two posts are reserved for OBC candidates. Of the eighty-four posts, three posts are reserved for Physically Handicapped persons[viz one post for persons with disability of Hearing lmpairment(Partially Deaf) and two posts for persons with disability of Orthopaedically Handicapped /Locomotor disability or Cerebral palsy with One Arm affected or One Leg affected] from any community. These posts are also suitable for persons with disabilities viz. Hearing Impairment (Partially Deaf) or Orthopaedically Handicapped/Locomotor disability or Cerebral Palsy with One Arm affected or One Leg affected. Rs.9300-34800+Rs. 4600(T.E.Rs.17653).
Age limit :
Between 21- 30 years as on normal closing date. Between 21-35 years for SC/ST candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them. Between 21-33 for OBC candidates in respect of vacancies reserved for them.
Qualifications:
Educational : Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.
NOTE : A Written Objective Type Test with multiple choices answer will be conducted and followed by Interview for selection of Candidates to the posts of Junior Works Manager (Mechanical) on 20,n June, 2010 in the Forenoon Session.
SCHEME AND SYLLABUS FOR THE TEST :
SCHEME : The test will be of two hours’ duration and the medium of the question paper will be English only. The test will be an objective type with multiple choices of answers and will carry maximum of 100 marks. There will be a penalty for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question. The level of the question paper will be of the BE programme of Indian Universities.
SYLLABUS : Syllabus of the Test comprises the following: Statics and Dynamics, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines, Machine Design, Mechanics of Solids, Production Technology, Manufacturing Science including machine Tools, Metrology, Industrial Engineering, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Material Science, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
IMPORTANT
The Employment News dated 27,h Feb 2010 carries Application Format for Special Advertisement No. 50/2010. Applicants for the posts of Junior Works Manager(Mechanical) and Deputy Central Intelligence Officer(Technical) must use the format published under the Special Advertisement No.50/2010. Application submitted in any other format will not be accepted and is liable to be rejected. One envelope should contain one application only. Candidates who wish to apply for both the posts [i.e. Junior Works Manager (Mechanical) and Deputy Central Intelligence Officer (Technical)] should submit separate application accompanied by the prescribed fee for each post.
WEIGHTAGE: The candidates will be called for interview in order of their merit in the Recruitment Test. The number of candidates called will be a multiple of the vacancies reserved in each category viz. SC/ST/OBC/PH/UR(Unreserved).
RESPECTIVE WEIGHTAGE OF THE RECRUITMENT TEST AND INTERVIEWS SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE COMMISSION.
A duly signed passport size photograph of the candidate is required to be affixed on the application format on the space provided for it. Applications without fee, photograph, declaration not signed by the candidate and not indicating the choice of Centre will be rejected. Similarly, applications received late and received from over aged candidates will also be rejected. Two self addressed envelopes ( 28 cms X 12 Cms. ) are to be enclosed along with the application. No other documents are to be sent. Applicants are required to indicate only ONE Centre of their choice in the application format under column No. 12(A) and 12(B)of the application format.
Change of Centre will not be permitted to any candidate under any circumstances. The candidates are cautioned that if any candidate appears at the centre not allotted to him/her by the Commission, his/her answer sheets will not be evaluated. The recruitment test for Junior Works Manager(Mechanical) & Deputy Central Intelligence Officer(Technical) will be held at all or any of the following Centres. The recruitment test of Junior Works Manger(Mechanical) will be conducted on the 20″1 June, 2010 in the Forenoon Session while the Recruitment Test for the post of Deputy Central Intelligence officer(Technical) will be conducted on the 20′” June, 2010 in the afternoon Session.
