TRIPURA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION
RECRUITMENT TO THE POSTS OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, GOVERNMENT (GENERAL) DEGREE COLLEGES, EDUCATION (HIGHER) DEPARTMENT,
GOVERNMENT OF TRIPURA.
‘ON-LINE APPLICATIONS (Computerized) are invited from the bonafide Indian citizens belonging to all categories (ST/SC/ General) for recruitment to the 246 posts of Assistant Professor in the subjects /disciplines as mentioned below

Total number of posts-246. Reserved for Sch. Tribes – 172. Reserved for Sch. Caste – 71. Reserved for Differently abled (PH-Locomotor) (UR) – 03.
All the posts are grouped for the purpose of reservation and shall not be segregated subject/ Discipline -wise for identification of a particular post for a particular category against any subject/ Discipline.
In case of non availability of required number of suitable ST/SC candidates the remaining vacancies up to a maximum ceiling of 102 will be filled by suitable General candidates.
The ST/SC Candidates of other States (not recognized by the Govt. of Tripura) should apply as general candidates along
with recruitment fee prescribed for general candidates.
The number of posts may increase or decrease.
2. Scale of pay: Pay Band of Rs 15,600-39,100/- with AGP Rs. 6,000/- P.M subject to revision by the Govt. from time to time (Group-A Gazetted).
3. Age: – Up to 45 (forty five) years as on 30-04-2010. Relaxable by 5(five) years in case of ST/SC/PH candidates & Government Servants provided that the Govt. Servants belonging to ST, SC & PH categories shall not get this relaxation
over and above the general relaxation of 5 years available to them.
4. Educational & other Qualifications:
A. Essential: (i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned University with at least 55% of the marks or equivalent grade where grading system is practiced at the Master’s degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian
University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR or Similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
(iii) NET/SLET/SET shall not be required for such Master’s degree programme in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET accredited test is not conducted subject to the conditions stipulated in the UGC Regulations, 2009 of 23-09-2009.
B. Essential Qualification for Engineering & Technology Discipline.
(i) Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the appropriate branch of Engineering (Engg.) & Technology (Tech)
C. Relaxation allowed (i) A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the Graduate & Masters level for the SC/ST/Differently-abled (Physically Handicapped) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. Rounding off of marks to make it to 55% or 50% as the case may be through grace mark procedure etc. by Universities is not permissible for claiming relaxation.
(ii) A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D Degree holders, who have passed their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September 1991.
(iii) Holders of Ph.D Degree as on the date of Notification of the UGC Regulations, 2009 (i.e. 23-09-2009) along with those candidates who were awarded a Ph.D Degree through a process of admission, registration , course
work & external evaluation as laid down in the UGC(minimum standards and procedure for award of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree), Regulations, 2009 & so adopted by the University, shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
D. Desirable- Knowledge of Bengali & Kok-barak.
5. Last (Closing) Date & Time: The last date of receiving ‘On-Line Application’ is 30-04-2010 (5.00 pm)
Applications received after the closing date & hour will not be entertained. Incomplete application is liable to be summarily rejected.
6. How to apply: (a) Recruitment Fee Deposit : The candidates shall have to deposit the prescribed Recruitment Fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) only for general candidates and Rs.150/ (Rupees one hundred fifty) only for ST/SC/ PH & BPL Card Holders to the Account No.31110220136 of the State Bank of India in favour of The Secretary, Tripura Public Service Commission, Agartala.
(b) On-line log-in (TPSC Website): The applicants shall log-in to http://www.tpsc.gov.in and the particulars / Bio-data in the Web page are to be entered along with the scanned passport size photograph with full signature at the below/ right side of the photograph.
(c) Acknowledgement Receipt: After entering the required particulars along with scanned photograph and full signature of the candidate , click save and print out to be made of the ‘ON-LINE APPLICATION’ Generated Receipt.
(d) In addition to the submission of ‘ON-LINE APPLICATION’ within the
stipulated period, all the candidates will have to send the hard copy of the
computer generated ‘ON-LINE APPLICATION’ Receipt duly signed (full signature)
enclosing the following:-
(i) Self-attested copies of all documents, certificates, mark-sheets, experience
certificate if any.
(ii) Recruitment fee (Bank receipt), 2(two) copies of self-attested recent
passport size photographs & a blank Self-addressed envelope (28 cmX12 cm).
(iii) ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Appropriate Authority of the present
Employer (in case of in-service candidates).
All of such documents / papers etc. noted above are to be sent in an envelope cover to be super-scribed as “Application for the post of Assistant Professor mentioning the name of Subject/discipline” so as to reach the under-signed latest by 15th May, 2010.
(iv) If employed after submission of the application, ‘No Objection
Certificate’ from the concerned employer is to be produced at the time of
7. Other important decisions.
a. The applicants must be in possession of the prescribed minimum
qualification(s) for the respective post(s) as on 30-04-2010 for submission of
application as mentioned in the advertisement.
b. Date of birth should be written in Christian era as recorded in Admit
Card of Madhyamik/ School level Examination.
c. The prescribed essential qualification is minimum and mere possession of
the same does not confer any right to the candidates to be called for interview.
The decision of the Commission as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate at
any stage of the selection process shall be the final.
d. The candidates will be responsible for correctness of all particulars as
furnished. In case of any subsequent detection of false or defective statement(s)
or suppression of facts, even after selection / appointment, his/her Candidature
will be summarily rejected.
e. When the number of applications received for a particular subject
/discipline in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be
convenient or possible for the Commission to interview all those candidates, the
Commission may restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable
limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum
prescribed in the advertisement or by holding a Screening Test.
f. If a candidate submits more than one “On-line Applications” for a single
subject/discipline, his/her latest application will be considered and previous
applications will be automatically deleted.
g. Candidates applying for more than one subjects/ disciplines will have to
submit separate application accompanied by the prescribed fee for the post and
other documents separately.
h. The Screening Test, if required, will be conducted at Agartala and the
Interview may be conducted at Kolkata in addition to the Agartala Centre if
i. The date, time, venue of the Screening Test/Interview will be notified in
News papers / other media/ TPSC website in due course and Provisional Call
Letter will be issued to the eligible candidates to appear at Screening Test/
j. No TA/DA for the candidates will be borne by the Commission. k. Canvassing in any form at any stage will disqualify a candidate.
